Community Emergency Management

Participants learn about community emergency management fundamentals; are able to contribute to development of emergency management guidance for their organizations; learn how to facilitate Extension’s role in developing Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COADs); learn about hazards and risks in their state; integrate learning into programs so that communities, local businesses and citizens learn preparedness and mitigation strategies to reduce impacts of disasters; participants integrate learning into programs so that builders learn about incorporating safe rooms into home construction; participants integrate learning into program so that communities and schools learn about school disaster mitigation, preparedness and exercises.

 

Format & Time Required:

  • Few hours to 2 days.
  • Most classes include interactive lecture, discussion and hands-on activities.
