Planning has emerged as a key necessity for the future of urban and rural communities in Greater Nebraska. The preparation of comprehensive planning, and the regulation of land use through zoning and subdivision regulations, for urban and rural Nebraska communities is central to their future growth and development. The citizen planners who are responsible for many of the smaller Nebraska communities are largely made up of volunteers who may be inadequately qualified or trained in community development planning and the management of change. The curriculum
has two objectives: 1) to provide citizen planners in Nebraska communities
with a basic introduction about the principles, practices, theories, philosophies,
methodologies, and skills needed to make planning decisions, justifiable;
2) to provide Extension Educators with an on-line educational resource
to assist them in the facilitation and guidance process needed to assist
local citizen planners in arriving at justifiable decisions. |
