This is an Extension staff development program for those who work with controversial public issues. Topics include: What is a Public Issue? Nature of Public Conflict; Cycle of Public Conflict; Causes of Conflict; Role of Extension; Neutrality, Assumptions, Beliefs; Dealing with Scientific Data; Positions versus Interests; Developing a Collaborative Learning Process; Negotiation Skills; Group Techniques; Dealing with Difficult/Angry Publics. Participant notebook available.
