By the end of the program, trainers will be able to help participants:

1. Contribute to positive outcomes where they live and work by serving as a neutral facilitator bringing together diverse and disparate stakeholders.
2. Apply appropriate facilitation knowledge and practical skills to lead a group toward resolution about an issue of community concern (affordable housing, immigration settlement, economic vitality, etc.)
3. Utilize a range of facilitation skills including contracting and handling logistics, getting a group focused, managing group interaction, making group decisions, dealing with group conflict, and utilizing diversity, power and ethics.
4. Foster better communication, stronger working relationships and broadened citizen involvement opportunities within the community.

    • Facilitation Resources, Volume 4: Managing Group Interaction
    • Facilitation Resources, Volume 5: Making Group Decisions
    • Facilitation Resources, Volume 6: Dealing with Group Conflict
    • Facilitation Resources, Volume 7: Utilizing Diversity, Power, and Ethics
    • Facilitation Resources, Volume 8: Designing a Volunteer Facilitation Program
  • Individual workshop topics range from 2-4 hours. The series is designed to be 16 hours in length with an additional apprenticeship phase. Common formats include a day-long workshop, or a series of on-going sessions for a group. Training cans also be held on site for up to 20 facilitation trainers.
