By the end of the program, participants can understand the sources of conflict and the dynamics of escalation; Become more self-aware about conflict-handling styles and the impact of different responses to conflict; Clarify different roles people assume when there is conflict, be able to identify primary and secondary parties to a conflict, and understand what it means to be neutral; Realize the red flags of trying to assist others to resolve a conflict when you have a strong interest at stake yourself; Know how to find out what each party’s interests are; Be able to use essential communication and analytical skills; Know how to facilitate problem solving among multi-parties; Be familiar with consensus decision making tools and know which tools are useful under particular circumstances; Be able to respect, adapt and help communicate when the conflict is among people of different cultures.

 

Format & Time Required:

  • Minimum of 18 hours—ideally a three-day training consisting of six contact hours per day.
