In
its role as the primary educational resource for community and economic
development Extension professionals in the Southern region, the
Southern Rural Development Center (SRDC) has provided several specialized
educational programs to fill the needs of rural communities in the
Southern states. One of these programs that has experienced tremendous
demand is Value Added Entrepreneurship. The program has several
factors that have proven essential to its success including a broad
understanding of the value added sector, the utilization of a broad
range of subject matter specialists, and the provision of user friendly
tools to participants that could be used by the participants with
they clients when they return home.
This
project will describe this educational program in detail with particular
emphasis on the methodologies used in program delivery, the types
of specialists used in delivering the program, the tools provided
in the program, and ways that this program can be replicated across
the country.
