The
Access e-Government program shows local governments how to make
smart choices about planning and implementing Web sites that meet
the needs of citizens. The main focus is on planning information-rich
Web sites that connect the interested public to the work of government.
Access e-Government is both an online guide and hands-on workshops
that help local decision-makers think critically about their choices.
Participants learn: what governments around the country are doing
with their Web sites; what people really want from a government
Web site; security and privacy issues that need to be addressed;
and how to evaluate vendors who can help them design and host Web
sites and secure transactions.
During
this presentation staff from the University of Minnesota, University
of Nebraska and Penn State University will highlight curriculum
content and teaching resources, explain how materials fit local
needs, and share lessons learned and impact results. This session
will provide Extension professionals an opportunity to explore using
this technology program in their communities.
The
curriculum was developed in 2001 by the University of Minnesota
Extension Service in partnership with the Association of Minnesota
Counties and Penn State University.
