Rural Population Policy in the Great PlainsThe purpose of the Great Plains Population Symposium was to bring researchers together to investigate the continuing depopulation of the rural Great Plains and to raise the nation's awareness of the facts and ramifications relating to the emptying of the nation's central region. The project was sponsored by federal legislation and was supported by a grant from Congress. The project was led by Dickinson State University in collaboration with researchers at North Dakota State University, Colorado State University, University of Montana and Iowa State University.
