Sustaining action on community and organizational issues is tough work. After the familiar rush of excitement and energy that comes from new commitments dissipates, constant infusions of "leadership" are required for long-term community and organizational goals to be achieved.

The Human Action Model and Analytical Tool introduced in this manual, and the leadership strategies suggested to move an organization orcommunity forward, have been field tested during the three years in which this manual was written. The authors have also included lesson plans to build understanding of leadership theories, and several exercises and activities that facilitators can use with groups to resolve a problem.
